Hello, my Lovelies! Another week come and gone. Time just seems to fly anymore. Well this weeks blog is all about Mr. Scott Kimark. Scott is the author of the ‘I Call Him’ Trilogy. So let’s see what this author had to say!
1. Tells us a bit about your books.
In a post-apocalyptic world, a warrior and his family are driven underground, fighting for their very survival.
When they do emerge, the futuristic planet they discover is very different from the one they left behind. Ruled by an evil presence which dominates and controls what is left of mankind, Earth has been reduced to a violent place of darkness, grief and destruction.
I call him HIM follows the journey of this unnamed warrior as he loses both his family and his mind. As he hits rock bottom, all he can think of is his insatiable yearning for revenge until he meets a young girl called Angelica who shows him the true power of faith. Her youth, innocence and strength of character reminds him of everything he has lost and the things which really matter.
But as the armies of the world rise up for the ultimate battle of good versus evil, can Angelica help him regain his sanity and rediscover himself before it is too late?
2. What has been the best part of creating your books world?
Writing the battle scenes. Being a martial artist almost my entire life it’s very easy to imagine every movement and technique.
a. The worst?
The hardest is describing a lack of color. In a post-apocalyptic world where everything is dead, sometimes I find myself struggling in not being able to express more colors.
3. What advice would you give a new fantasy writer like myself?
Marketing, marketing, and more marketing. I thought it would be easy to get the word out about my book. I have no marketing experience and I’ve had to learn so much along the way.
4. What piece of literature has had the most influence on you? Why?
I don’t think I can narrow it down to one piece of literature. As a kid I devoured all the novels from Edgar Rice Burroughs and Tolkien. I think those two authors had the most influence on me.
5. Besides writing, what else do you enjoy doing?
I love practicing Kung Fu and Tai Chi. I truly believe they keep me young and energized.
6. How do you balance between writing and spending time with your family?
My kids are grown and have moved away to other cities, so I have much more free time at night and on the weekends. I don’t think I would have had time to write when they were young.
7. Tell us about the projects you have in the works?
I just released the second book of the “I call him HIM” trilogy and I’m about sixty percent done with book number three. After that, I have several ideas for spinoffs and prequels with some of the other characters.
8. Can you tell us about your writing process?
I need absolute silence and no distractions. From there I let myself become the character and enter into his/her world. I only have a skeleton idea of where I’m going with the story. My characters decide what will happen next as they face their dilemmas and try to come up with a solution.
9. If you couldn’t write books what would you want to do?
The same thing I’m doing now – teaching history and Kung Fu.
10. Is there anything else you would like us to know that I haven’t asked about?
Just that my second book “The Angel of Death” is now available for preorder and will officially launch on May 6th, 2021.
